Framing The Project
Problem — Kent State offers a wide variety of healthy meal options for students. However, many students are unaware of what should go into a proper diet. Additionally, this lack of knowledge tends to transform into an unhealthy relationship with food the more students work out and exercise.
How might we use design to help improve student understanding of proper dietary approaches, and inform them of the options they have on campus?
Project Summary
This was a collaborative effort to reassess and re-approach the current dietary model on Kent State's campus. My team worked collaboratively in the research and concepting phases, then broke off to work on separate deliverables based on our research findings. The deliverable I focussed on was an app that could inform students of the food offered on campus, and how they could have healthier diets.
Process
My team began our process by conducting a literary review into healthy diets, dietary trends on college campuses, the diets of students on Kent State's campus, as well as health initiatives on other campuses that have worked in the past. From here, we created several surveys to better understand how students ate, and what they wanted out of Kent's dining halls.
